Adjusting to the New School Year

The new school year is always a time that is full of new activities, new lessons, different children to teach – and it can be quite overwhelming, even for the most experienced teacher. However, it is possible to treat this time as an exciting fresh start.

Organisation is your best friend at the start of a new year. Set up your classroom, prepare your resources, and create clear systems for routines and expectations from day one.

Getting to know your new students quickly is important. Use icebreaker activities and take the time to learn about their interests, strengths, and any additional needs they may have.

Don't try to do everything at once. Focus on establishing routines and building relationships in the first few weeks. The curriculum can wait a little while you lay the foundations for a successful year.
