How school will be different in September?

The government have confirmed that at present they are still hoping to lift all social distancing restrictions from the 19th July. This will essentially mean that school bubbles will be no more and school life can return to some sort of normality.

For many schools, this will mean a return to whole-school assemblies, mixed-year group activities, and the ability to use shared spaces more freely. Children will be able to socialise across year groups again, which is important for their social development.

However, schools are likely to maintain some hygiene measures such as regular hand washing and increased cleaning routines. These practices have shown benefits beyond COVID prevention and many schools will choose to keep them.

Teachers and support staff will need time to adjust to the new arrangements, and it's important for parents to be patient as schools find their feet in this new phase.
